GARA Open Small Boats of 13th of July 2002
The GARA Open Small Boats ( not part of the Small
Boats League ) were raced on the 13th of July 2002. The MRC pair
of Sigurd Haveland and Ruben Rodriguez maintained thier unbeaten
run this season but unfortunately we lost the Single and Double
Scull regattas.
Yola Events of the 14th of July 2002
The MRC won two regattas and lost two. MRC won the
Gache Challenge Cup the Veterans Regatta( Unopposed ) due to no
entry by Calpe Rowing Club and the GIFOMAPA Trophy for 2nd Crews.
MRC lost the remaining two regattas The Women's Race as MRC did
not ( submit any entry )and the Benatar Challenge Trophy for 1st
crews in a competitive regatta.
The next Regattas as scheduled to be rowed on the
weekend of the 27th and 28th of July 2000. All regattas will be
round bouy events starting and finishing at both club's seafronts.
These will be the Porral Challenge Cup, The Gibet Challenge Cup
and the Carboni Challenge Cup.
Participation of our oarsmen at the UK National
Championships
Caine Robles, Francis Muscat and Joey Clinton took
part in the UK National Championships between the 19th of July and
21st July 2002. Francis and Caine participated in the GARA under
18 quadruple sculls winning thier heat and coming 4th in the final.
Good overall performance, well done Caine and Francis. Joey Clinton
rowed with three Calpe RC oarsmen in the Calpe/Med composite under
15 quadruple sculls. They won their heat but came 4th in the semi
final. All the oarsmen rowed for the Thames Tradesmen Rowing Club
as it was a mainland UK National Championships.
